This application provides users with real-time UV Index (UVI) levels for any location across the globe. The UVI serves as an essential metric for assessing skin-damaging ultraviolet radiation exposure.
With this app, users can obtain current UVI estimates and insights into its anticipated variations throughout the day, either at their current location or at alternative selectable locations worldwide. While low levels of UV radiation offer health benefits, excessive exposure poses serious risks, including skin cancer.
The UVI is predominantly influenced by the sun's elevation angle, resulting in higher values during the summer months and around solar noon. In mid-latitudes, peak UVI levels can surpass 10 during summer, whereas winter typically sees values below 1. In tropical regions, UVI values can exceed 20 due to minimal seasonal fluctuations. Notably, the highest recorded UVI levels are found in the Altiplano region of South America, where they can exceed 25.
